ANSICHT

2005, 17'18" in loop, video projection 24 x 18 cm, color, silent, mini DV

ansicht is a small, single screen projection, recorded at the Cabo de Gata national park on the south coast of Spain. This area is characterized by a rough and desolate landscape. During summer months tourists come to spend a day on the surrounding beaches. The fixed shot of this video shows the endless line of cars that moves through the hills every morning, looking for a parking spot. The image evolves monotonously and repetitively. As such ansicht focuses on tourism as migration, and on the way this human intervention interferes in the landscape.
